Ian: my sweet nephew

We found out that my little sister was having a baby really early on...like only 4 weeks along. So, to everyone (including her)...it felt like she was pregnant FOR.EV.ER. When Ian finally arrived (a week late) it was cause for great celebration...and a photo shoot.

Seriously, he is such a good baby...but at 8 days old he would not sleep for me. He kept a constant watch on the camera, inspecting it, analyzing it, storing away that information in his little baby brain. Regardless, we got some cute photos of the newest family member!

Meet Ian...he gets his flair for the dramatic from me (see 2nd picture)

Mara: 10 days old

This little one takes my breath away. Not because the photographs are especially amazing. She's the amazing one. My neice. My family. My Mara.

Anna + Lillian: Sisters

At a mere 14 days old, Anna already fit right into the family. The whole time I was there she soaked in her new environment, smiled at her family, and seemed so at ease with her new reality.

Anna is the 2nd daughter of my cousin Sarah. Sarah is a natural mother who couldn't have had more beautiful children. It was a pleasure to meet Anna and revisit with big sister Lillian.

Jack H. - 7 Days Old

Photographing infants...what is better than capturing the first days of someones life. Not much I would say. Meet Jack-my 3rd Jack this year! Fresh and new to the world at only 7 days old. He was charming, adorable, and loved keeping his eyes on the camera...following me as I moved.

One thing I love about newborn shoots is setting the baby on it's belly for some tummy time photos. Every so often this new little person will lift up their head in an amazing feat of strength. It always delights the parents and me.

Jack D. - 5 Days Old

I was so excited when Jack's mom called me FROM THE HOSPITAL to schedule a newborn shoot for this little guy. I arrived at their house when he was just 5 days old to meet this handsome, head full of hair, little boy.

From the moment I arrived he was full-on crying and would only be consoled in the arms of mom or dad (I'm sure they didn't mind though). I still think I did a pretty good job of capturing some moments in between fits of crying. :)
